Shanley is a Honokaa HS graduate and will enter the Culinary Program at UH Palamanui this fall. Shanley has a long history of giving back to the community. It is her desire to learn to cook and bake a variety of different dishes to continue to help feed her community as well as help teach the younger generations the skills she’ll learn from culinary school. Shanley, we couldn’t be more proud to award you the Huggo & Shirley von Platen Luder Scholarship. Aloha, friends!🤙 In the months of March & April our 𝑨𝒍𝒐𝒉𝒂 𝑷𝒂𝒔𝒔 𝑰𝒕 𝑶𝒏 supported the Huggo & Shirley von Platen Luder Scholarship Program!🌟 In 1969, Huggo & Shirley opened Huggo’s on the Kailua-Kona shoreline. It is our desire to malama the communities & staff that support us. We are so excited we will be awarding 7 annual scholarships this year to help pass on the Aloha!🤍

Facing a staff shortage due to the pandemic, Nina organized & founded The Lunch Club. The club recruited students to volunteer their time in the kitchen & help prepare food & promoted career development for students in the culinary arts.
